Portia Lee James DeGeneres is an actress and model from the United States of America with the pseudonym Portia de Rossi. She legally changed her name at age 15and adopted her name from the Shakespearean play 'The Merchant of Venice'. She then adopted the Italian name 'de Rossi' that she believed to be elegant. Portia is convinced that it's the most outrageous thing she's ever done. She said that her internal conflict over her sexual orientation was the main reason she chose to make the decision. Portia was first introduced to film with a romantic comedy drama titled 'Sirens' where she was a part of the cast alongside Hugh Grant. Portia was a part of a number of American TV films, including 'Too Something', 'Nick Freno's Licensed Teacher and Arrested Development', and Better Off Ted.
